A former Wells Fargo branch in Mount Laurel could soon gain new life as a Dunkin’ restaurant and coffee shop. The proposed conversion involves the bank property at Church Road and Maple Avenue.
Plans call for adapting the existing building rather than developing a new structure. Additionally, the former bank drive-through would serve Dunkin’ customers ordering coffee and food.
The property already offers several features that could support a restaurant conversion. Its relatively compact building, existing parking, and drive-through infrastructure provide a foundation for the proposed reuse.
However, the project requires approval from the Mount Laurel Zoning Board. Restaurant and coffee shop uses are not currently permitted on the property.
The proposal is scheduled for consideration on October 7. The zoning board will review whether the property can accommodate the proposed Dunkin’ use.
Location could also play an important role in the site’s potential. The property does not sit directly along Route 73 or another major regional highway.
Instead, it is positioned near Church Road, Green Tree Road, and Maple Avenue. These local roads provide connections through several established residential and commercial areas of Mount Laurel.
The proposal also reflects a broader commercial real estate opportunity for former bank branches. Existing drive-through lanes can make these properties attractive to restaurants and other convenience-focused retailers.
Furthermore, adaptive reuse can reduce the need for entirely new construction. Existing parking, access points, and building infrastructure may also support a more efficient redevelopment process.
If approved, the Mount Laurel project would transform an existing financial services property into a new food and beverage destination. The conversion could also demonstrate the reuse potential of similar former bank properties throughout South Jersey.
